One of my goals for this year was to enter some of my work into photography contests and exhibits, and I’m so happy to say that a couple of my pieces have been selected to be put on display! One of my photographs will be a part of Rosewood Art Center’s ArtEd exhibition of works by Dayton area art instructors. The show runs from August 27th to September 14th, but this Saturday, the 25th, is the opening reception, from 2-4. During that time there will be a People’s Choice voting, so come on out and maybe vote for my photograph!
I’m also so excited that another of my photos will be a part of the Westcott House’s “House of Photography” exhibition of photographs on the theme of URBAN SPACES: “the elegances, the squalor, the curiosities, the monuments, the sad faces, the triumphant faces, the power, the irony, the strength, the decay, the past, the present, the future of a city” (Berenice Abbott, 1940). That exihibit will run from September 12th to October 30.
Having my photos in shows like this is an entirely new experience for me, and one that I’m totally excited about!
By the way, the photo above isn’t the one in either of these shows–I wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise! :)
