Z’s family lives in Southeastern Ohio, not too far from Zanesville, and, while visiting them last weekened, we did a little bit of exploring. Photos: Weasel Boy Microbrewery; Tom’s Ice Cream Bowl (a ridiculously cute little ice cream shop/diner, supposedly the “Best Place in America to Get a Scoop”); family photo!; picking peaches; donkeys at Georgetown Vineyards, were we spent a leisurely couple hours eating popcorn and drinking Ohio wine; and a tree frog, who kept his eye on us through the window all evening.
And, a special feature, because I went a little nuts with the Instagram when we stumbled into Alan Cottrill’s Sculpture Studio & Gallery. The gallery and studio are both open to the public (with a suggested donation). Downstairs is a bit of a gallery and his studio, where he works and where you can see works in every stage of the sculpture process. Upstairs is a huge gallery–according to his website, over 400 pieces. It is absolutely incredible and, though I have to admit, I’d never heard Alan Cottrill’s name before last Saturday, I would definitely recommend anyone stop in to visit his studio. I’m always so amazed at what people are able to create from nothing.
Have a beautiful weekend!
