Ah, I loved getting to work with Tori & David! They are just the sweetest couple, with an adorable love story (they’ve known each other since junior high!). They are planning their wedding apart right now, as David is stationed here in Dayton, where we took their engagements portraits at the Museum of the United States Air Force and where they’ll live after their wedding next summer in Florida. And it was absolutely freezing when we did their photos (can you spot the little bit of snow?), but you can’t even tell in their portraits–they are so bubbly, cuddly and joyful together. Tori’s (gorgeous!) makeup was done by Joni Ormsbee, and hair by Brooke at the Connections Salon.

dayton country club reception: celia & chris

Celia and Chris were married September 13th in England, where they live, and it turned out to be quite a Friday-the-13th-type of day: rain, delays and a broken-down car meant the couple made it to their reception much later than expected (and rather soaked!), cutting down on time for portraits and family photos. Luckily they had planned a second reception for family here in Dayton, at the Dayton Country Club. The evening was a bit chilly, but gave us a beautiful sunset for lots of photos, and then their Ohio family gave them so much love, and an exceptionally joyful reception to celebrate their new marriage.

This year has been amazing, and my business has grown in ways I could’ve only imagined. I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the most amazing clients, as well as some incredible photographers and assistants. We’re so blessed to have such an exceptionally supportive photographic community here in Dayton. I thought it’d be fun to share a few behind-the-scenes shots from this last wedding season.

Sometimes my second photographers/assistants end up on the other side of the camera when I’m testing lighting, or they are steaming a dress, or getting pulled into a wedding DJ’s hilarious scavenger hunt game, or just in shameless selfies during the rare moment of wedding-day downtime:

(That mouth-wide-open face seems always seems to be what the photographers I’ve known do in photos–for people who take other peoples’ photographs, we can be the MOST awkward when it is turned around on us!) :)

…and sometimes I just photobomb my second shooters :)

I can’t say “thank-you” enough to all the amazing gals (and my dear Zack) who have helped me out this year!

dayton engagement photographer: chelsea & jeremy

Ah, I was so lucky to photograph so many lovely couples this fall, including Chelsea & Jeremy. We started their session at Cox Arboretum, then headed to the University of Dayton campus to to finish up–including a few portraits right on the porch where they met (such a perfect UD story, right?).

tipp city wedding: jason & sarah

Jason & Sarah’s wedding was an absolute dream. Jason is a photographer himself, and I’m always so humbled when other photographers choose me to photograph their weddings. In fact, Jason told me that he had emailed dozens of photographers and met with several before booking with me–so the pressure was definitely on! :)

They had such a beautiful, meaningful morning ceremony, followed by a joyful afternoon reception. This schedule seems to be a bit of a trend–3 of my couples already booked for next year are having morning weddings! In Jason and Sarah’s case, it just made the day so relaxed, and allowed us plenty of time afterward the festivities to do some portraits of the two of them on the beautiful grounds of the bed & breakfast where they were spending their wedding night. Don’t you just love the timeless look of Sarah’s dress, especially with Jason’s Air Force uniform and the old farm feel of the location? And I have to say a special thank-you to Ana, my wonderful second photographer, for helping me capture Jason & Sarah’s day.
