atomic duck pin bowl indianapolis

After a pretty crazybusy few weeks, Zack and I headed out of town this week for a quick trip to Indianapolis. We wanted to go not too far, and to explore somewhere new. While Indianapolis isn’t exactly what comes to mind as a “must visit” city, I would definitely recommend a night or two there to anyone. We stayed at the exceedingly cute Nestle Inn, which provided us with coupons each day for an amazing breakfast next door at Henry’s Bistro. We did some antiquing, visited the art museum, had some incredible food and drinks (including wine, above, from the New Day Meadery and the best Greek food I’ve ever had at Santorini), and went Atomic Duckpin bowling, which is basically vintage mini-bowling–the balls and pins are much smaller, and the alley is decorated entirely in a vintage style (way more fun than regular bowling, and a lot harder, too!).

A quick trip was just what we both needed–I’m refreshed and excited to get back to work! I’ve got so many shoots that I can’t wait to share with you soon (including one of the cutest, most colorful families you ever did see). Have a wonderful weekend!

cincinnati engagement: nora & brendan

Nora and Brendan are just the best, hands down. So in love, having so much fun together–nothing I’d rather photograph! I actually met Nora in college, when we both studied French and went on a month-long, whirlwind study abroad program together. Since then, I’ve been lucky enough to bump into her and Brendan at a couple weddings I’ve photographed, and was so excited to get a message from them after Brendan popped the questions (from the top of the Carew Tower, in one of the cutest proposal stories I’ve ever heard!).  For their engagement photos, we spent a Sunday afternoon just hanging out in Cincinnati, starting at the spot where they got engaged and ending with the gorgeous views of the city from Devou Park. Congratulations, Nora & Brendan–so, so thrilled for you guys! :)

film, personal: sugarcreek

From an afternoon walk at Sugarcreek MetroPark. All on way (like, 6 or 8 years)-expired, supercheap 35mm film, and all straight as scanned–no processing after the fact.

fashion inspiration: lauren

The beautiful and stylish blogger-extraordinaire Lauren (who you may remember from her wedding photos and our Valentine’s shoot) needed some updated, seasonal photos for her blog, so we met up last week at the ridiculously cute Windmill Farm in Springboro. I get pretty giddy about everything fallish (pumpkins! hay rides! bonfires!), and had such a great time hanging out with Lauren. Be sure to check out her blog, Wifestyles, to get to know her better, and check out some more photos from our shoot.

Meet Jackie, a gorgeous senior. I have to just smile a bit when clients say anything about being “not photogenic” or “terrible in photos” or “horrible at having pictures taken” or…whatever, and then five minutes in we’re just laughing and playing around and getting awesome shots. In Jackie’s case, she didn’t show it, but she probably got a little annoyed at me showing her photos on the back of my camera and going on about how amazing everything was looking. But, I just couldn’t help it–she totally rocked it out :)
